  • You own the notes, flashcards, tasks, and content you create.
  • Guest mode is local to your browser/device.
  • Online Backup is optional and requires signing in.
  • Notera is built to stay free, without paid feature locks for core study tools.
  • You are responsible for exporting backups of important work.
  • Do not misuse the app or upload harmful content.

1. Agreement to these terms

By using Notera, you agree to these Terms of Service and the Notera Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

2. What Notera provides

Notera is a personal study productivity tool. It helps you create notes, flashcards, quizzes, planner tasks, focus sessions, and progress records.

Notera is provided as a helpful study workspace. It does not guarantee better grades, exam results, admissions outcomes, scholarships, or academic performance.

3. Accounts and guest mode

You may use Notera in guest mode without creating an account. Guest data is saved locally in your browser and may not be available on other devices.

You may also sign in with Google. Account sign-in can connect your profile and enable Online Backup if Supabase is configured for the app.

You are responsible for keeping access to the Google account you use with Notera.

4. Online Backup

Online Backup lets you save and restore selected Notera workspace data through your account. In this version, backup actions are manual. You choose when to save this device to your account or restore your account backup to this device.

Because backups can overwrite local or cloud data, you should export a backup file before major changes, device switches, imports, or restores.

5. Your content

You own the notes, flashcards, tasks, profile details, and study content you create in Notera. We do not claim ownership of your study content.

You give Notera permission to store and process your content only as needed to provide the app, save your workspace, display your data, export backups, and restore backups.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use Notera for illegal, harmful, abusive, or deceptive activity.
  • Upload or store content that infringes someone else’s rights.
  • Attempt to attack, overload, disrupt, reverse engineer, or bypass security of Notera or its connected services.
  • Use the app to store malware, scripts intended to harm others, or content designed to compromise systems.
  • Misrepresent your identity or access another person’s account without permission.

7. Data loss and backups

Notera tries to help you save and protect your study data, but you are responsible for keeping backups of important work. Browser storage can be cleared, devices can break, files can be overwritten, imports can fail, and sync actions can be used incorrectly.

To reduce risk, use the Export or Download Backup File feature before resetting, restoring, clearing browser data, or switching devices.

8. Free use, ads, and changes

Notera is built with a simple promise: students should be able to study without paying for core study tools. Notera is free to use and is intended to stay free.

Core study features, such as notes, flashcards, quizzes, planner tools, focus sessions, progress tracking, and basic backup/export tools, are not intended to be locked behind subscriptions or paid feature gates.

Because Notera is maintained by a solo developer, small ads, sponsorship messages, or similar support features may be added in the future only to help cover maintenance costs, such as Supabase, hosting, and a possible custom domain.

Features may be added, changed, paused, limited, or removed over time as the project develops. If advertising or sponsorship features are introduced, we will try to keep them reasonable and avoid making them interfere with the study experience.

9. Third-party services

Notera may rely on third-party services such as Google Sign-In, Supabase, hosting providers, browser storage, fonts, or content delivery networks. These services may have their own terms and privacy notices.

We are not responsible for outages, changes, or issues caused by third-party services outside our control.

10. No professional advice

Notera may help you organize study routines, but it does not provide professional educational, legal, medical, financial, or psychological advice.

11. Disclaimers

Notera is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not promise that the app will always be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or compatible with every browser, device, school system, or workflow.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, Notera and its creators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, study progress, grades, opportunities, or profits arising from your use of the app.

13. Ending use

You may stop using Notera at any time. You can export your data, reset local data, sign out, or request deletion of cloud data connected to your account.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Notera changes. When we make meaningful changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above.
